Giardino Ristorante
Giardino Restaurant's small shop front on Chipping Sodbury's historic Horse Street belies the large and rather elegant restaurant beneath the surface. This popular eatery has recently undergone new management, and with its wooden floors, forest green banquettes and authentic Italian menu it has become a hit with local young professionals and families. Spread out over two floors, this restaurant has an excellent wine cellar, a variety of homemade puddings and a cosy vibe complete with wi-fi access – making it ideal for business lunches. Italian chef/owner Giuseppe Laudani's signature dishes include the carpaccio di manzo; the tagliatelle al salmone; and the Giardino salad made with mozzarella, tomatoes and onions.

Piccolino
Located within the high end Cabot Circus shopping complex, this sophisticated branch of Piccolino sits easily alongside Bristol’s high end boutiques and department stores. Fresh from punishing the plastic in Harvey Nichols, diners enjoy the relative relaxation of Piccolino where Italian sophistication is injected in to every corner. The interior is contemporary and stylish with a dash of Fellini-esque chic in the choice of colours and sweeping curves, ideal for those fashion-savvy shoppers. The typical Piccolino menu is full of fresh seasonality, modern and traditional dishes and rich, Italian flavour with diners guaranteed to delight in each and every delicious dish. The open plan pasta kitchen adds a little entertainment to proceeding while proving that at Piccolino freshness is everything.

Prosecco
Prosecco welcomes you with a warm greeting and gently glimmering candles on each table, and offers an authentic take on the feel and flavours of rural Italy. The menu at this friendly, family run restaurant (named after the sparkling wine of Veneto, the wine growing region of northern Venice where head chef Diego Da Rae grew up) is based around recipes passed down from grandmother to grandchild, yet Prosecco is not limited to an old fashioned selection of dishes – diners looking to stray from the traditional Italian fare will delight in the presence of the likes of the chicken liver pate with black grape chutney, alongside Prosecco’s other tantalising inclusions.

San Carlo
San Carlo is a popular and award-winning Italian dining institution in the heart of Bristol's bustling Corn Street. The restaurant's lavish dining room – with tiled floors, neutral décor and electric blue accents – has a unique Mediterranean ambience and is always busy with a vibrant local crowd. The buzzy atmosphere, bold flavours and warm hospitality at San Carlo combine to provide an ideal setting for group parties and corporate events. We love the modern yet authentic seafood-led menu, and favourite dishes include the spaghetti with shellfish, garlic, chilli and fresh basil in a tomato sauce; the classic tuna carpaccio; and the traditional spiced Italian sausages cooked with Borlotti beans and served with grilled polenta.

Zizzi
Italian restaurant chain Zizzi opened the doors of its very first branch in London's Chiswick in 1999. Now there are over 100 branches, all decorated in an appealing contemporary style. Wood-fired ovens, open kitchens and modern interior design with locally influenced art features make for a vibrant atmosphere. As for the food, they serve up a variety of traditional Italian dishes including all the usual suspects: salads, antipasti, pasta, pizza, calzone, risotto as well as fish and meat mains and desserts. What Zizzi really pride themselves on is sourcing good quality ingredients; salads are dressed with white balsamic vinegar from Modena, for example, and offer Goddess Olives, a variety known for their firm flesh and nutty flavour. The modestly priced wine list is dominated by Italian wines, starting at £13.45 for a Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. Bristol's Cabot Circus branch of Zizzi will satisfy style-conscious shoppers with it's glam décor and fantastic service.
