Following a review of their technology development strategy, our client is strengthening their magnet engineering teams, and they currently have a fantastic opportunity for an Applied Physicist or Senior Engineer with NMR experience. The successful applicant will join a multi-disciplinary group in their Engineering Department, and work to maintain their state of the art competence in magnet design, analysis techniques and manufacturing processes. With specific focus in the areas of cryogenics design, magnetic field homogeneity and stability, and system interactions you will contribute to the development of new products and their enabling technologies and help secure their market-leading position.
Key Responsibilities
• Identification, assessment and management of technology and process development projects to ensure competitive advantage.
• Generation, development and evaluation of innovative design solutions to ensure competitive product performance and intellectual property portfolio.
• Component concept, design and delivery in line with product and technology roadmaps, and in response to market and commercial drivers.
• Evaluation of technical manufacturing issues to enable reliable product performance to be achieved.
Skills and Knowledge
Applicants will have a good honours degree in physics or engineering; post-graduate qualification and / or relevant industrial experience is advantageous but not essential.
• Understanding of the technologies applied to MRI magnets, namely at least two of the following: electro-magnetics, NMR physics, and superconductivity.
• Proven experience in experiment design and data analysis, to understand and solve challenging technical problems.
• Ability to plan and mitigate risks to acceptable levels to ensure project objectives are achieved on time.
• Excellent communication skills, and a capacity for working independently as well as in a team.
