Our client, based in Somerset has an urgent requirement for an experienced;
Project Engineer
OVERVIEW:
To accept total responsibility for each contract allocated to them. Ensure each is complete on time within budget.
DUTIES
PROJECT MANAGEMENT:
• Day-to-day control of projects allocated and reporting to Client and Engineering Director.
• Develop and maintain a detailed contract programme including design, purchasing, payment and delivery schedules.
• Ensure delivery of all Project Documents and Equipment are delivered to/received from project partners in line with a planned Timescale.
• Principal contact with client and internal resources and principle Technical contact with Suppliers.
• Liaison with Design, Purchasing and Quality Departments to meet the timescale programmed.
• Liaison with Process to resolve contract process problems.
• Identify conflicts in scope of supply and obtain supplementary orders from clients.
• Give instructions to nominated support staff for production of relevant contract documentation.
• Raise and issue purchase order, subject to the constraints of the "Purchasing Procedures".
ENGINEERING AND PURCHASE MANAGEMENT:
• Preparation of tenders for all bought out equipment.
• Cost comparison of all submitted tenders.
• Preparation of Contract Quality Plan and preparation of manuals and other specified documentation.
• Arranging suitable expediting programme of relevant sub-contractors.
• Co-ordination of inspection of goods received at UK office, export packers or jobsite.
• Liaison with clients and/or Third Party Inspectors.
• Making suitable arrangements for receiving completed goods, packing, despatch and shipping.
• Ensuring that client invoicing schedule is maintained.
• Maintain and review Contract Parts List.
• Arrange Project and Design Review meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS AND BACKGROUND PREFFERED:
• HND, HNC, BN, BEng.
• knowledge of ISO9000.
• knowledge of CE Marking.
• Mechanical/Heavy machinery / Waste water treatment background.
• Vessel manufacture / Structural steelwork / Capital equipment background
• Principal contractor background.
IDEAL EXPERIENCE:
• 10 to 15 years
GENERAL
• Attend Contract departmental meetings.
• Liaison with Site Supervisor and support the Mechanical/Electrical/Commissioning team.
• To attend relevant Site Meetings and make relevant reports.
• Support of rectification and reporting.
• Development work.
• To carry out other duties that falls within the speciality and competence of the jobholder, as agreed by the Directors.
• Strong organisational skills; specifically with the use of planning systems and cost and quality control systems.
• Ability to foster team relationships and work with others in the area of design, site installation, QA and expediting roles.
• Strict attention to detail with the ability to work effectively as an independent unit without day to day supervision.
• Show resilience and demonstrate initiative in decision making processes related to manufacturing needs, time constraints and client needs.
• Whilst based primarily in the home base office the candidate should be prepared and able to travel freely worldwide, including 3rd world countries, to supervise final installation and start of machinery.
• Good communication skills specifically by e-mail, in meetings and on site.
• PROFICIENCY WITH THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE IS MANDATORY. Spanish/Chinese/Indian speaking skills would be an advantage
