Lead Package Manager Wind Turbine Foundations
This vacancy is for a Lead Package Manager.
The role will be based to manage the procurement, manufacture and installation of the offshore foundations required to construct the wind farm in North Wales.
The role will be based initially in Swindon with substantial time being spent on site in
North Wales during the offshore construction period commencing in quarter two, 2011.
Due to the high value and technical complexity of the foundation structures required, the
foundation supply is being split into the following five main contracts:
• Design of WTG monopile foundations
• Manufacture of WTG monopile foundations
• Transportation and Installation of monopile foundations
• Design and manufacture of substation jacket foundations
• Transport and installation of substation jacket foundations
Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the role of Lead Foundation Package Manager will be to manage the team responsible for safely delivering the five main foundation contracts, along with any other ancillary contracts required, on time, within budget and to the specified quality.
The Lead Foundation Package Mangers scope of responsibility covers both the procurement and construction lifecycles, from the formulation of contract strategies through to the handover of the completed structures.
You will be responsible for a wide range of activities including:
 Management and development of a team of Foundation Package Managers;
 Recruitment of team members as and when required;
 Development and implementation of contract strategies;
 Participation in the development of technical and contractual specifications with the
objective of improving quality, minimising delivery time and fabrication costs of foundations;
 Management of the pre qualification process, and drawing up of tender lists;
 Management of the preparation of Enquiry Documents;
 Management of the tender assessment, contract negotiations and award of contracts;
 Management / administration of contracts for the design, fabrication, transportation and
installation of steel offshore foundations
 Preparation and management of budgets
Preparation and management of detailed schedules
 Management of quality control activities related to the fabrication of steel foundation
including audits and inspections of contractors, sub-contractors and suppliers.
 Preparation of project control reports such, progress reports, deviation reports, cost
reports, inputs to risk register and other status reports;
 Management of commissioning and handover activities
 Preparation of close out reports including lesson learned reports at end of contract.
Your Profile:
 Your employment history may include working for wind power companies, offshore oil
and gas companies, general offshore construction companies, power companies, or general
engineering consultancies.
 You should have a demonstrable track record in the recruitment, development and
management of teams.
 You should have a high level of relevant experience in the procurement, design,
certification manufacture and installation of large steel offshore structures.
 You should have a high level of project management experience and excellent
interpersonal skills.
 You should be qualified to degree level or equivalent in a suitable discipline.
 You should have a high level of experience of working on large construction projects in
multi-disciplined teams.
 You should have good knowledge of health and safety legislation.
