Software Engineer / Electronics Engineer
Our client, based in Witney, Oxfordshire have an exciting opportunity for a Software/Electronics Engineer in their Magnetic department.
You will be Developing software/electronic engineering solutions from first principles in line with defined objectives. Hold technical responsibility for delivery of associated technology.
Technical Skills
Qualified with a degree in electrical/electronic engineering or software engineering with demonstrable post graduate industrial experience in the following areas:-
Background and experience in embedded micro controller hardware/software design (specifically for the C16x programmed in C ) Ideally using the Keil development tools including experience of real time operating systems (i.e RTX166).
Knowledge of High Speed Communication Buses and communication protocols (e.g. RS232, CAN, SPI). Experienced in developing CAN based applications ideally utilizing the CANOpen library from PORT.
Ability to clearly document program code as required for the adherence to industrial standards for safety related programmable systems i.e IEC 61508 together with associated hazard and risk assessments.
Knowledge and experience of Mixed signal (analogue/digital) design including programmable devices and associated programming languages (e.g. VHDL).
Knowledge and experience of formal software verification techniques.
Knowledge and experience of PC program application design and development in a Windows environment (e.g. Visual Studio languages Visual Basic, Visual C#).
Experience in using subversion and Visual sourcesafe for versioning control and maintenance.
Knowledge and experience of applied Electronics Test and Measurement methodologies.

1. People management: Motivate and lead project teams to deliver project milestones on time; to ensure sufficient skill sets are available in the project team; ensure sufficient resources are available.
2. Risk management; Plan and mitigate project risks to acceptable levels to ensure project objectives and deliverables are achieved on time. Ensures appropriate tools are used, ie, FMEAs, hazard analysis.
3. Customer management; Provide excellent communication skills to plan, coordinate and liaise with the customer for decision making process and providing advice.
4. Project control and reporting; Provide accurate project reports on status against milestones including financial control within set budgets to all stake holders and product cost targets.
5. Business specific knowledge; Good understanding of technologies being applied to existing products to assess risks and challenge implementation when appropriate.
6. Project delivery and completion; Delivery of a system design, to schedule, by managing the resources of a cross-functional team to ensure deliveries meet the schedule agreed with the external and internal customers
7. Maintain business processes; Ownership of and adherence to appropriate business processes and ensure / promote process compliance
8. Project management tools; Ensures state of the art project management methodologies and tools are employed at all stages of the project
