Title: Application Support Engineer

The Application Support Engineer will work as part of a small team responsible for the delivery of GOLDesp systems and upgrades to new and existing customers. This junior role is responsible for supporting development, test and implementation, using excellent problems solving skills and broad IT and software knowledge to identify, analyse, and resolve defects and issues, enabling the delivery of high quality software and enhanced functionality.

The ideal candidate is either straight from University or with a few years relevant work experience. This position offers the opportunity for real hands on involvement in A Boeing Company, where experience will be wide and accelerated. The role is as part of a close-knit, supportive team with lots of opportunity to learn quickly, take early responsibility and engage directly with UK and overseas customers, and technical experts at head office in the US. Primary Duties and tasks:

• Providing application support during the development, testing and implementation of software solutions
• Logging and resolution of issues, including testing, fault finding, initial diagnosis (triage), detailed evaluation of issues and root cause analysis
• Manipulation and interpretation of data using standard analytical tools (e.g. MS Excel) for example, to identify data quality issues and recognise broader pattern recognition within data sets.
• Taking responsibility for data accuracy and integrity.
• Recognising important issues and escalating to the Subject Matter Experts and/or developers in a timely manner to allow for rapid resolution.
• Providing accurate and appropriate feedback to customer and internal Miro colleagues within an appropriate timescale.
• Delivery of the highest levels of customer service
• Engaging effectively with customers and users to ensure that issues are rapidly and appropriately analysed, discussed, addressed and resolved within SLAs
• Supporting the team in the delivery of first time quality and bug free software
• Evaluates new technologies for applicability into the work processes. Takes responsibility for the integration of new technology into existing processes and the development of new processes.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Skills and Competencies Desirable or willing to learn:

• Technical graduate in Computer Science or Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Excellent general IT skills and knowledge.
• Preferably some exposure to SQL query and PL/SQL procedure.
• Strong analytical skills and experience in identifying and resolving IT issues.
• Good understanding of logical data models.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong problem solving and analytical abilities
• A strong customer focus.
• Ability to present complex ideas to technical and non – technical audiences.
• Ability to communicate appropriately to keep colleagues and line manager appraised of plans, progress and issues.
• Strong multi-tasking skills with good attention to detail and an extremely meticulous approach
• Strong team player and ability to work well with others. Able to establish relationships with key technical staff, business managers and clients
• Willingness and ability to occasionally travel.
• Ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural and language environment.

Desirable (or willing to learn):

• Formal software testing experience.
• Skills in Oracle SQL and Database Administration (DBA).
• Conversant with moderate to complex SQL query and PL/SQL procedure
• Defence and/or Aviation Maintenance and Logistics systems knowledge, for example supply and engineering data composition.
• Experience of hands-on software programming and providing application support.
• Working knowledge of Java, SQL, XML, HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
