A fantastic Deputy Care Manager position has become available in one of Sense's new residential supported living service in Ottery St Mary. This is a permanent role, working 37.5 hours per week. Here at Ottery St Mary, we support 19 adults with Learning Disabilities, we have a 4-acre site with a 5 bedded residential service and a 14-person supported living service, this is over 7 units on 1 site. We are in a rural area of outstanding beauty in Devon, the River Otter is on our doorstep, our residence enjoy exercising in the beautiful countryside around us here. The fresh air and sights really are good for the mind, body, and soul for you and those we support. We also have great transport links to surrounding towns like Sidmouth, Honiton, Exeter and the wider Devon area, this enables the people we support to gain independence with travel via public transport.
This is a new and exciting role and you will form part of the management team managing both residential and supported living services, working alongside the team supporting people with learning disabilities and autism that may display behaviors that challenge you. These individuals are striving for independence, seeking paid employment, being part of their community by joining gyms, slimming world, speaking up groups and looking for new opportunities in their lives. We are looking for creative, flexible and supportive people who have a can do attitude. Prepared to challenge stereotypes and feel passionately about the rights of vulnerable people to have an ordinary life - doing extraordinary things.

As a deputy manager you will support the team to enable individuals to live the life they choose, to make choices, to express themselves and live as independently as possible. Your leadership skills, coaching, team guidance and support will assist individuals to run their own lives as much as possible. Through good leadership the team will feel valued and well supported. Supporting the registered care manager to ensure the service is compliant with CQC, working alongside professionals such as health, Devon County Council Adult Social Care including the Reaching for Independence Team and support is co-produced with individuals and their circles of support to ensure great outcomes are achieved.
We have person centered rotas, this means we meet the needs of those we support, we are proud to be able to offer a variety of shift patterns, we do not have "standard shift patterns" such as early/late shifts. We provide support from 8am – 8pm, or 7am start if on a sleep-in duty, or 10.30pm finish. Alternative weekend working and contracts for Full time 37.5 hrs a week, or part time hours that can fit in around commitments, we can also offer relief work which is where you pick up shifts with your availability on an ad hoc basis.

Deputy Care Manager, Ottery St Mary, Duties:
To support individuals / groups within the service and community.
You will assist the manager in the running of the service including rota, supervising, mentoring and leading the team to ensure that all shared responsibilities are fulfilled, and systems maintained which guarantee compliance.
To provide a customised, responsive, and high-quality service to people with multiple sensory impairments, physical and/or learning disabilities who use Sense services.
To deliver services which meet or exceed organisational expectations and standards.

Deputy Care Manager, Ottery St Mary, Desired Experiences:
You will have a proven track record of motivating and managing others including carrying out supervision meetings
You will have experience of working with adults with disabilities, monitoring the personalised care provided, reviewing, identifying, and resolving issues arising from the 'day to day' operation.
You will need a can-do attitude, to work flexibly and be creative – solution focused approach
